Personal Development Strategies For Entrepreneurs (Part 1)
Self-help tactics come in a myriad of forms. Sometimes they require tremendous effort and energy just to stay focused. Sometimes, however, all we need to do is implement small and more gradual changes, changes that require much less energy but that in the long run accomplish the same purpose.
1. Learning a new skill
This a great way to stretch yourself and improve the quality of your character. What’s more, perfecting a hobby, technical skill or artistic form may be challenging at first, but if you master it, you will gain a sense of accomplishment, purpose and enjoyment. What’s more, you add to your pool of leisure activities and make yourself a more rounded human being.
2. Keeping a list
Keep a list of all the times in your life when you felt big or incredibly strong. Try making this list every night before you go to bed. There are no things that are too small or silly; go ahead and list them. Use these remembrances to help draw on your inner strength and add those familiar feelings to who you are today.
3. Support System
One cannot achieve personal development alone, as no man is an island. Your support system will be essential during this time, so make sure you have a great support system. You may wish to hire a professional or consult people in your life that bear qualities that you would like to develop.
4. Ask for Feedback
Ask for feedback sincerely and frequently. In your business, develop a support structure for customers, suppliers and employees you know and respect to give you periodic feedback. At home, ask your family members sincerely to help you achieve your goals. Be sure to accept any feedback as a gift, even if it’s hard to hear.
5. Progress
Don’t worry about how fast you are progressing. Focus only on the act of moving forward. Pressuring yourself for rapid progress will likely result in burning out and giving up. Instead, take deliberate steps and appreciate the journey. The only thing you should fear is being completely stagnant.
